Established in 1985, we are a team of experienced professionals who have worked with a range of clients including farmers, private individuals, estate owners, government agencies and voluntary sector organisations. We can help you achieve your project, whatever the size, in a cost effective and timely manner.
Dai Jones BSc MICFor – Managing Director
Dai took over as Managing Director following the retirement of Hugh Wheeldon who founded the company in 1985. After graduating from Bangor University with a degree in Forestry he went on to work in Scotland, Northumberland and North Wales before returning to South Wales in 1998 to take up a position as Forest District Manager for the Forestry Commission covering the Llandovery and South Wales Valley Districts.

In 2014 Dai joined the team at HW Forestry Ltd bringing a wealth of experience of working with a diverse types of woodland found across South and West Wales. He manages an extensive portfolio of clients providing a range of services including harvesting, timber sales, restocking, new woodland creation, management and restoration of native woodlands, woodland valuations and sales.

Dai has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters since 1996 and is a member of the ICF Wales committee and the CONFOR Wales Committee. In 2015 he became a co-owner of the company and manages the team from its base in Carmarthen.
Alison Wheeler BA MSc (Ecology) MICFor - Director
Alison Wheeler is our company Ecologist with over 30 years experience working in the field of nature conservation and forestry. She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Geography from Exeter University in 1987 and went on to achieve a Masters in Ecology at Aberdeen University in 1989. Her previous posts as Conservation Officer with the Lancashire and South & West Wales Wildlife Trusts where she worked for 9 years, gave her an early opportunity to gain practical skills and understanding of conservation land management, ecological survey, environmental education and community engagement.

Since she joined HW Forestry Ltd in 1998, she has taken the lead on management of native woodlands and new woodland creation in her role as an accredited Glastir Woodland Creation Agent Planner and Woodland and Ecology Agent Advisor for the Woodland Trust in Wales. As a professional Ecologist she offers a range of ecological services to private individuals, government agencies and voluntary sector organisations.

In 2015 Alison became a professional member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and in the same year became a co-owner of the company.
Tracy Peach – Officer Manager
Tracy joined our company in April 2021 as our Office Manager with a wide experience of working within the military, civil service and public sector. She has worked in various administrative roles within these roles.

Tracy is responsible for the day to day running of the office and assists with GIS work and land registration on behalf of our clients.


Vicky Richards – Accounts Administrator
Vicky joined our company in 2017 as an Accounts Administrator. She has worked in a wide range of businesses and is a qualified Accounting Technician.

Vicky deals with the day to day running of our Accounts Department handling the management of the financial affairs that clients delegate to us, including VAT returns and timber sales on their behalf.

Vicky is a member of the AAT.
